I'm about to re-install directadmin on my server.

What is the most stable OS to use directadmin with?

The server, R300:
Quad Core Intel® Xeon® X3360, 2.83GHz, 2x6MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB
2GB Memory, DDR2, 800MHz (2x1GB Dual Ranked DIMMs)
SAS 6iR internal RAID Controller, PCI-Express
C4 - Add-in SAS6iR (SATA/SAS Controller) - RAID 1
2 x 250GB SATA (7,200rpm) 3.5inch Hard Drive
Broadcom® NetXtreme 5722 Single Port Gigabit Ethernet NIC, PCIe

- The system should preferably run 64bit and should use all 4 cores. (In the current setup it only uses 2)
- The OS must be very stable (never reboot, if possible).
- The OS must be secure. considering the 20$ offer a month from webbycart to secure it further.

Also it should be possible to run apache 2.2 and PHP with APC.

There are so many good choises out there:
Debian
FreeBSD
Ubuntu
CentOs
Fedora
etc..

What should i pick for a smooth running directadmin?

Throw your suggestions and or preferences please :-)

Just talked to webbycart

They highly recommend CentOS, also for 64bit processors.

Im currently installing 5.4

As I've posted before, the primary development platform for DirectAdmin is CentOS. So it's probably always the best solution unless you have a preference.

centos 5.4
i test about 6 month, and the centos 5.4 64bit is good for using,

i was thinkin about what os i would start to use on a new dell server im going to buy...

i use to use debian with smp kernel for manage all cores and ram for a debian 32bit now (using 32bit for not having bit trouble on installation and softwares) and i would like to know if is preferred to change os to centos (never used or managed so i will need to practice on it and check paths differences) or if keep going with debian 32 with smp kernel.. and... i would like to know what are the really big difference on using a native 64bit os

thanks in advance

best regards
