I'm building my second DA server that is a dual P3 1.13ghz Tualatin based with 1GB of PC133 ram. Obviously this thing will be pretty darn quick and serve my customer needs until I outgrow it. But as I've gotten the other hardware taken care of I am left with a few questions regarding the hard drives and partitioning.
Previously on my old DA server I had 80gb x 2 mirrored for the "/" partition and then 160gb x 2 mirrored with for the "/home" partition only. Based on everyone elses very professional opinion and hopefully opinions of the DA staff... what is the best recommended partitioning scheme?
- Should I mirror two more 80GB drives for "/"?
- Should I partition "/var", "/usr", "/boot", "/" all on seperate partitions on the same 80gb mirror?
- If so, what should those sizes be for the above partitions?
What I am doing is trying to keep in mind when it comes to mail storage, logs, etc. I'm just looking for advice to get the best setup to meet my customers needs.
