I am a gonna be a newbie with hosting my own websites to start out at, then after a few months when i get use to it i am planning on getting clients.

What is the best Linux i should start out with? Someone recommended me to Fedora, and the one i should start with can someone give a direct link.

How hard is it to install i am wondering as well.
gonna be on a computer that has 320 GB space and 4 GB RAM on HP Windows Vista.

Does Linux overwrite the Operation System i current have or is it together.

Next question, when i have my Linux all set, i am planning on purchasing your Direct Admin here, am i able to get a techsupport to install Direct Admin on my computer for me, or even walk me through it online or by phone?

told you i was new lol, i understand the rest of the stuff with servers just these areas i don't will also be a new Linux user.

Thanks for any information

I'll answer a few things..

I read as well that Fedora is the easiest.

About installing Linux on a Windows machine, could have concequences to your booting when you would uninstall it.
But normally, download the dvd-image, burn it, get a disc available, boot your pc, run linux.
Then when you run linux you can choose to place it on the harddisc and partition it to how ever you want.

You could also choose to run it within a virtual machine/environment within Windows.

And you need a static IP to load directadmin.

Why not try their demo and site-helper.com to get used to the functions?

Jeremy,

Let's start at the beginning.

By it's nature a server will run all the time so you'd be best off removing Windows completely.

If you want to leave Windows on your server you'll need to follow the instructions offered by your Lunix distribution vendors as to how to install both on the same server.

We recommend CentOS as the Linux OS to use because it's the OS that DirectAdmin is developed on; everything else is a port.

Your server will need to be permanently connected to the Internet through a static routable IP; if you plan on hosting from your home or office you should check with your ISP about filling these important requirements.

DirectAdmin staff will be happy to install DirectAdmin for you; the installation is included in the purchase price.
