Hello,

I am expanding my web-hosting company and getting a shipment of 22 brand new dell servers.

At the moment I have been using Ubuntu Server, Because It's a nice, simple, secure OS based on Debian.

I am not to sure whether to install ubuntu on the 22 new servers or not, This is because I have had to do some tweaking to get it to run on ubuntu.

What OS's do you think is the best suiteable for DirectAdmin use?

** Message to DirectAdmin, How much could you do 22 lifetime lisences for, pm me or email **

Thanks,
Charlie

Hi Charlie,

Since some time, I've switched from Red Hat to Debian for servers. It certainly has it's downside (most of those howto's here are for Red Hat), but it's great once you get everything working.
If you create a semi automated process to install everything, it won't even be that much of work.

Btw: you should mail your question to sales _ at_ directadmin.com. Mark and John don't check out every topic.

That depends on the server specs.
If these servers support 64bit OS and you want to take advantage of that, you might have a very limited choice atm.

DA is developed on Red Hat distributions. Everything else is a port.

As one poster already mentioned, many of the How-Tos are written for Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

We use CentOS 4, a free-as-in-beer implementation of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 free-as-in-speech distribution.
