I've got a strange thing happening and I'm curious if anyone else has seen it, diagnosed it and cured it?

Every so often random sites on a particular server will start serving blank pages for 2-20 seconds and then things will return to normal. Multiple sites will do it at the same time.

I noticed this using apache/nginx w/ php-fpm.

I first tried moving sites to different servers, but the remaining sites continued to misbehave under less load. I then started playing with configurations.

Finally, after switching to apache / fastcgi I haven't seen the issue for several hours. We'll see if that holds when our backup scripts run tonight.

Anyhow, I'm just curious if anyone else has exerpeinced anything similar? We're looking for the root cause. Everything has been running great for years, until about 3-4 weeks ago. Since things have become increasingly flakey.

It's happening across multiple data centers with multiple providers. So it's not limited to a particular node in a cluster with a single provider.

Running Cent 7.8. 8/16GB RAM / 4/8 Cores - seemingly plenty of free swap, ram, cpu...
