I don't know if this has always been like that or if the introduction of IPv6 made it go weird, but there is either a bug or something illogical in the IP management page of DA.

If I want the domain of a reseller to have its own IP, I have to assign that IP to admin, so that it shows up in the list of IPs that can be assigned to that reseller and only then can the reseller add this IP to one of his domains.
In the IP table, it will show me this:
Status: owned
Reseller: admin
user: reseller

I find it odd since the reseller is...reseller and not admin.
If the IP is owned by reseller, then it can only be used for his users, not for himself.

Is this the normal behaviour?

IP#s are first assigned by admin to the reseller, and then by the reseller to his user.

Is this NOT what's happening for you?

Jeff

IP#s are first assigned by admin to the reseller, and then by the reseller to his user.

I believe what he is saying is that the reseller cannot assign that ip to his own domains. He can only assign it to his users.

The admin has to assign the ip to admin and then admin can assign the ip to the user level of the reseller.

@floyd - Correct. Seems illogical to have to assign the IP to admin for the reseller to be able to use it for himself.

Hello,

Much of the above assumptions are not correct.

You don't need to assign it to admin, you can assign it to the Reseller.
A Reseller can assign an IP to himself.

1) Admin Level -> IP Management -> assign the IP to the Reseller

2) Login as the Reseller, go to:
Reselller Level -> List User -> Modify your own User data

3) select the IP, and away you go.

The link to modifying your own person User account is likely the missing key.. as it's not huge in big letters, and is often missed.

We *could* add the Reseller into his own list, just in that table to make it more clear.. but the User Level of a Reseller can be edited to any extent by himself, within the constraints of his Reseller limits.

Hello John,

I've tried the above method and it works (but the link is quite discreet), however there is a discrepancy when you use an alternative way:
1) Admin Level -> IP Management -> assign the IP to the Reseller
2) Click on the reseller's username
3) Click on "username"'s User Data
4) Click on Modify User "username"

The list of IP is wrong, it shows the IPs belonging to admin.
That's the reason I had to try to do things differently.

Cheers,

Olivier

I've deleted a customer that had a dedicated IP.
I've followed the method described above, but the IP doesn't show up in the list.
