Hi

I've recently tried to access all my email accounts on my computer through a email client software (it is Mac Mail). I successfully accessed one of my email accounts but the problem started when I incorrectly entered the pop3 and smtp information a couple of times for another account and the firewall (CSF) banned my IP so I could not login to my mail server any more. I unblocked the IP through the CSF panel in Direct Admin but i can no longer login to the mail server any more. Now my question is if I need to unblock the IP anywhere else or do any further adjustments anywhere? Please let me know if more information is needed.

Any ideas ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

By default if CSF/LFD blocks an IP it blocks a full access to a server. Of course they may configure it to block access only to a specific TCP/UDP port. So what is your case? That's not clear from your post, as you was able to access directadmin. Or you changed IP to connect your Directadmin? If you changed your IP didn't you get access to mail server?

Anyway, you may check your IP against iptables rules list:

Code:
# csf -g 11.22.33.44

in root shell or in directadmin.

Or/and simply restart CSF, Dovecot, Exim if you don't want to go deep into details and read logs.

Dynamic IP

Hello zEitEr

No, I have an internet connection with a dynamic IP address so I do not have any problems now to access my website, DA or email accounts, say, through Roundcube Webmail since it is a different IP now. The problem as I say was that Direct Admin had already blocked my previous IP and I was able to remove it from the deny list. Still, I do not have any success with accessing my mails other than through Roundcube.

Thanks

Did you try to restart CSF, Dovecot, Exim? Did you try to disable CSF and connect to Exim/Dovecot with disabled firewall?

Solved

Thanks zEitEr. The problem is solved. I had to enter the whole "email address" as the "user" when setting up the account on my email client. For whatever reason when I entered, say, "info" as "user" instead of "[email protected]", it did not work.

That's the way DirectAdmin manages duplicate email names. For example, how would your server know if you were [email protected] or [email protected]?

Only server level users (account users on DirectAdmin) don't need the domain name. Any email addresses you add are virtual addresses, and you need the full address to log in.
