Hey,
Im a little new to web publishing and this is my first site. I have managed quite OK by reading forums, but for this I cannot find any help...
I have registered with hostlogical a week ago, and received my login info. A couple of days before that, I repointed my nameservers to those that hostlogical said. So, fingers crossed I thought, I'd now be able to upload my site.
So, I have tried doing this both using Dreamweaver and wise-ftp, and my files show in the extend control panel, but when I click on my site (www.metroagency.com), nothing comes up. Why is this? I have made sure I've named my first page index.html and put everything into the public folder.
Something else I found strange was that in the control panel it says that I am using 0mb of my 500mb. Why aren't the files showing?

Many thanks for your help, and the moment I feel as though I am hitting my head against a brick wall!

And you may very well be.

Your registrar is pointing your site to these two nameservers:

ns1.esecuresite4.com 66.98.138.88
ns2.esecuresite4.com 66.98.139.47

But neither of them is returning any records for your domain.

Try using the control panel to look at your DNS records. Are there any listed?

If not, can you add them? If you can but need help figuring out what to add, then ask your hosting company's tech support.

if you can't, then contact your hosting company's tech support.

If you contact your hosting company's tech support, be sure to point them to
DSN Report so they can see what they have to fix.

Thanks for your help I rally appreciate it....
...but, I know I should be able to access the DNS settings but I cannot access the control panel, my username and password do not work. i dont know if this is related at all?
I will email the support and ask them to change the relevant settings.
Many thanks again

If your username and password don't work then something is wrong. Could be something as simple as you're trying to log into the wrong server.

But in any event, tech support for your hosting company is the only place you're going to be able to get help.

Let us know when you've got it resolved :) .

still can't view site

Ok, so Ive tried changing the name servers, but my web hosters are not being very helpful. the thing is, is that some friends can view the site on their computer. I still cant see it on mine. ive tried deleting tempory internet files but this doesnt help. What else could be it??

many thanks

You still have errors in your DNS.

To see what they are, check here.

You're getting these errors because the root DNS servers are telling the world that the proper DNS servers for your domain are ns.mainnameserver.com and ns2.mainnameserver.com.

But those nameservers are not saying they're authoritative.

Instead they're saying that ns.heartinternet.co.uk and ns2.heartinternet.co.uk are authoritative.

Now it so happens that the nameservers at mainnameserver.com and at heartinternet.co.uk are actually the same server(s); they have the same IP#s.

Nevertheless, until you get this fixed (the easiest way is probably to change records on your local nameservers to point to ns.mainnameserver.com and to ns2.mainnameserver.com), you're going to see the error messages, and it's going to be very hard to debug your DNS setup.

The good news is that your site resolves properly here.

If it's not resolving for you, then you have to check these issues:

1) have you rebooted your local system?

2) have you restarted your local browser?

3) if you're on a Local Area Network, has your router been recently rebooted?

All of these issues could be affecting your DNS resolution on your local machine.

What do you get when you type:

nslookup metroagency.com

into a command window?

If you really can't get help from your hosting company in resolving your DNS issues you should consider moving to a hosting company that will help you. This issue is not a DirectAdmin issue; DirectAdmin successfully hosts DNS for many thousands of domains.

It's time to get help from your hosting company or if you can't, to change hosting companies.
