Cann't open email using squirrmail. Preference file could not be opened ???

Facing error while opening email account using SquirreMail.

Error Message says:
Preference file, /var/www/html/squirrelmail/data/[email protected], could not be opened. Contact your system administrator to resolve this issue.

Appreciate an early response.

Are you the server administrator? If not, contact your host as only they can make the required changes to the server.

If you are the server administrator then you should be able to safely run this command as root:

chown -R webapps:webapps /var/www/html/squirrelmail

and then perhaps you'll need to run the DirectAdmin permissions script as well.

Sorry to butt in.

Are you using http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=92 with mod_ruid2? I ask because I get this if we restore an account that was backed up from another DA server or cPanel (converted) backup, we get the same/similiar permission error. See http://forum.directadmin.com/showthread.php?t=45490

I havenever seen anyone else with the same issue, and it's really bugging me.
