Can't log in with hostname

Have been sussing with various distros after a couple of DA installs went awry (one would not boot and another disconnected and refused to reconnect in mid Custom Build). The first go-round allowed me to log in with my hostname (name.host.com) but the last install will not. I can log in with IP:2222 without difficulty, but the hostname will not resolve and there are no DNS records in DA for the hostname. The nameservers appear correctly, as does the IP and the TLD domain (host.com) resolves correctly and its accompanying DNS records are there. Am I missing something here? Thanks.

I'm not sure.
How long did you wait when installing this server? As Directadmin itself is installed quite fast. However, all the rest is configured in the background and this will take time, depending on the hardware.
There will be a system message if all background installation is finished and it's best to not add domains and change all kind of stuff when the background installation is still running.
So that could be something you missed, but if you did wait for it, we can exclude this.

Not booting... I heard something of issues with Hetzner AX servers and Centos Stream 8, but I can't confirm if this indeed causes problems.
All seems to be fine on 9.

So lets start with the most important thing.
The hostname does not resolve, is bind running? Did you create a seperate hostname in domain administration or did you just add it to your domain?

If you just installed your server, you know that changing or creating nameservers will take at 4-24 hours to synchronize over the world. With a lot of luck it can be faster sometimes 2 hours, but those are more the exceptions.
Until that time, if you can login with ip:2222 I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thank you for the prompt and most complete reply. I just added and "A" record to the TLD DNS settings (per support) and everything is working now. I'll be OK once I lie down. :-)
