cant resolve ip

how can i resolve mail.company.local to mail.company.com
mail.company.local is behind a router

i cant ping mail.company.com
we are in a domain environment, where mail.company.local (xchange) is a member server
if i access our email thru owa is use: https://public_ip/owa
if doesnt work if i use https://mail.company.com/owa

dns is hosted at zoneedit
