can't use smtp server

Have Mac PowerBook G4 runni ng OS 10.3.
When I try to use my mail client get message that "The SMTP server “mail.ldpd.net” rejected the password for user “lee”. Can use exact same setting with other send servers OK. Can also use mail.ldpd.net to send mail using a different mail client (Thunderbird) on this same computer and with same settings. Please have One-Hut fix this problem. ---- Thanks
