Hi,
I am confused about the following thing: I recently have tons of e-mail bounced from my server that was sent to non-existent e-mail boxes. I do not want those e-mails to be sent at all, because they overload my e-mail queue.
I want those letters to be completely ignored.
So, I go to domain's "Catch All E-Mail"When I click on the "Ignore" version, DA states:
"...Spammers will be sending you emails to random addresses" - that is exaclty my case :)
", and this option will accept those emails. You will not know it because the accepted emails would be discarded. This greatly increases the server load unnecessarily. If you do not want the catch-all to be on, then use the Fail option instead."

How do they get "accepted", if they are IGNORED? And how do ignored mails cause server load??
This is not logical...

To be ignored they have to be processed. The fail option doesn't let the email get processed by the server at all.

Is there any option to just fail and not to send any letters with errors? How is it best to deal with the problem of many unneeded fail notifications?

:blackhole: sends everything to the garbage with no replys.

Thank you scsi, where do I set this option? Is it possible to set this in DirectAdmin or is it a setting in a configuration file?

Put it in the catchall email field instead of an email address. If thats not what you want then disable the catchall and just make forwarders for the addresses you want.
