Hi. Unfortunately CentOS 8 will EOL early - What alternatives are suggested and why?

Some thoughts: Debian, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux. But no experience with them.

Go with Debian or if you want to continue with Centos 8 get a CloudLinux license and convert your Centos to CL.

Yes, if you are a hosting company: cloudlinux, it's great.

If you are, like me, just hosting yourself and a few friends, i'd go for debian.

I think everybody needs to relax for a bit. Other options are coming.

Just wait and see what upgrade paths form. You have a year if you are in CentOS 8 and there's no impact for CentOS 7

I'm using Debian since years and no issue at all. Completely stable, quite easy to use and a huge community so it's rare to find bugs or unexpected stuff without it being discussed already online somewhere.

Centos 8 stream may not be as much of an issue if there is a feature where you can delay any updates for XX days/weeks therefore, not really being the guinea pig.
