CentOS update Kernel erro

Hi,

Using the yum update command, I tried to update Kernel from 3.10.0-327.36.1.el7.x86_64 on an x86_64 to 3.10.0-514.2.2.el7.
When the update is complete and I try to restart my VPS, it can not be reboot.

I receive the error:

error: file '/vmlinuz-3.10.0-514.2.2.el7.x86_64' not found.
error: you need to load the kernel first.

Press any key to continue...

But when trying to restart the Kernel, I receive the same issue.

How can I solve this?

Running a CentOS 7 DA VPS.

Ask your hoster to restore a snapshot if he has one.
Looks to me this is a non recoverable error, but perhaps the more experienced admins here have a solution.

Worst case scenario, you need to reinstall your os and restore all data from backups.

Thank you for your reply. That's what I already thought, the reinstall of the os and restore all data. Let's hope some experienced admin can help me out!

Hello,

During booting the OS select another older kernel (you need a KVM or virtual console for it). After your server boots you should re-install the latest kernel, as it seems was not properly installed.
