Change Password Error for any users

Hi,

I login to admin system and use "change password" menu to change some users password, but it didn't work. The system show:

"Error changing password Click here to return to the main page Details Changing password for user aboyh"

The error log is as follow:

008:08:17-21:36:47: unable to stat /etc/proftpd.passwd.temp for filesize after write: euid:0
2008:08:17-21:36:47: Error changing ftp password for aboyhome: Unable to write to /etc/proftpd.passwd to save the ftp user aboyhome<br>

Can anyone help?

Sounds like it could be a permissions error, what's the output of;

# ls -al /etc/proftpd.passwd

 

[nobaloney]

Or you could be out of space on the partition containing /etc.
