Change Passwords not working

I spent almost the whole day yesterday changing ALL user passwords (except email accounts) on 3 servers running DA.

Today I go to access an account and the new password doesn't work, but the old one does.

I went in as a Reseller and clicked
Change A Users Password

It allowed me to make the changes (on all accounts-about 85), and gave me a notice that the passwords were sucessfully changed.

But now only old passwords are working and all new ones are not. It looks like I wasted a whole day doing this and my changes didn't take.

One note - although I didn't get any error messages about it, again everything said it went thru...I am changing passwords to a minimum of 10 charachters in a format like this:

T7$>jM8#F9

Is there some reason that these password changes are not sticking? I see the same issue on all 3 servers.

Any help appreciated.

Changing passwords works for me.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Ok I tried again, let me be more specific...

The new passwords DO work to log into DA control panel and FTP.

But when I try to open a website with FrontPage it will only accept the OLD password. I thought this would update automatically, as I use the user's login to access sites with FrontPage quite frequently. Why would it still allow to use old password? How do I correct this?

Thank you for any advice.

Ah, ok, you can either disable/reenable frontpage.. would be one way.
Or login to the domain itself with this url:
/_vti_bin/_vti_adm/fpadmcgi.exe
and try it there (I think there is a user management page for frontpage there).

In any case, I'll update the password changer to update that automatically for the next release.

Ok, disabling and re-enabling FP extensions does update the password.

When I visit the other link for FP user admin, there is no option to change the password for the user.

Thanks for adding this for future releases. :)

I just wanted to follow up with some additional information and problems stemming back to changing passwords thru DA.

To Recap:
1 - I changed all user passwords thru DA
2 - Passwords did not change for logging into a website with FrontPage
3 - To make passwords update to FrontPage, I disabled and re-enabled FP extensions thru DA for each account.
4 - This DID allow me to open sites with FP after step 3

Now I see another problem and I wanted to make people aware of it.

In some of the sites I create using FrontPage, I create a sub directory thru FP, and Convert it to Web (now it is a sub-web). This allows me to place web-based software into a directory that FP knows not to "touch" unless I open it using FP (which I don't). This helps to preserve any php or other scripts within the sub-webs.

Anyhow, apparently when turning FP extensions on and then off, any sub-webs I have created becore just plain directories, so nothing more than a folder inside the website.

I had recently added a bunch of .htaccess files to some ecommerce sites which resided in sub-webs, to help with security. However, now after opening the sites with FP, the .htaccess files are all gone, apparently removed by FP, since sub-webs had been "de-ranked" to basic directories.

I know FP is on the way out - but some of these sites are rather old, and clients don't want to pay to remake sites. So I'm stuck with FP for a while yet on many sites.

So I just wanted to post this here, in case someone else has the same problem.

Thanks
Becky
