I am new to directadmin. I recently purchased a vps with directadmin. I would like to change the name of the server. Do i have to do anything more than change the name of the server in the Administrator Settings->Server Settings? Will it automatically make the correct dns entries?

Currently it is set:
Servername = vmxx.myvpshost.com
ns1.james415.net
ns2.james415.net

I would like to change the servername to host.james415.net.
nameservers will stay the same.

One other question, there is an option to blacklist ip addresses after xx attempts. are these attempts consecutive or cumulative?

thanks!

The command will change your hostname but I don't believe it will change your DNS records, so you should check.

You can deny IP#s by putting them into the /etc/hosts.deny file but you'll have to run some program to put them in there.

Depending on your OS Distribution you may or may not be able to run APF+BFD, but you may not, because it has to run in your kernel.
