Change username during restore

I want to restore a backup by admin and change its username,
It's name is user.admin.user1.tar.gz, I change it to user.admin.user2.tar.gz and restore it.
It seems everything is ok and restore complete without any error.
Is this a safe way to change the username of an account?

Any help would be much appreciated.
 
HI, I got a similar job to do, I have user buba on server one(1) and also user buba own server two(2), i want to backup user on server two(2) and restore on server one(1) ... do as above and rename the backup file then rename databases after restore or what might me a better way ?

It would not hurt if the sites were under the same user as they are both the same, if i restore buba (2) to buba(1) server(1) would it overwrite or just add to whats there, course need to use ip for server 1 ?

just seen something in another post, how would this work, make new user on server two and move domains to the new user, back new user up then restore on server 1? would moving domains to new user change mysql and email settings etc as needed ?

The account will be overwritten, I'd rather say. So you should rename it firstly.
