Hello,

Did I miss anything? For now I see that rotated logs are named in a new way:

Dec-2011.tar.gz.1

but it always was like:

Nov-2011.1.tar.gz

Why is it done so? And can I change it back?

Code:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 160821 Dec 26 00:32 Dec-2011.tar.gz

It was done i version 1.4 http://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=1270

I like it. But I needed to delete all the old log files manually, if not the results with new log files was wrong and I get to many log files. It was confusing. However, delete all but the last five (if that what you have in your settings) log files in each domains, and it should work without giving you wrong number of log files in total.

@ditto,

Thanks, I've missed the feature announce somehow. The only thing is troubling me a little bit, it's not possible to use preview in mc (midnight commander) or/and browse the tar.gz.

So could we have a choice to switch back to

Nov-2011.subdomain.1.tar.gz
Nov-2011.subdomain.2.tar.gz
Nov-2011.subdomain.n.tar.gz

format? Does anyone else care about this?

I like the new format. I really just wanted to reply to mention this bug fix in the next version: http://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=1282

At the moment it keeps more log files then it should. :)

Edit: Actually I should correct myself. It is not the new format I like, but what I like is that the logs are not in random order anymore. :)

The fix http://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=1282 made me to remember my request.

The new format has no any logic (at least to my mind), but John appeals that is more logical and says:

will now be rotated in a similar fashion to all logs in /var/log

here http://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=1270

But that is not true, the most of logs have the following format:

Code:
maillog
maillog.1.gz
maillog.2.gz
maillog.3.gz
maillog.4.gz
maillog.5.gz
maillog.6.gz
maillog.7.gz
messages
messages.1.gz
messages.2.gz
messages.3.gz
messages.4.gz
messages.5.gz
messages.6.gz
messages.7.gz

in /var/log directory.
