Changed to SuPHP and now no plugins work

Server was switched to run suphp in order to accomadate a program.
after testing, most seems ok however any program added as a plugin through direct admin no longer function.
There are a couple of scripts that are not plugins that no longer work too.
All affected scripts seem to be under 1 user only.

i have the same problem with a skin (capri) and i "solved" it with commenting out open_basedir in php.ini but this is not a proper solution
