With the admin back up in direct admin you can choose via a check box which back ups you wish to create....
But if a client ever needs you to restore a back up you do not have the ability to just click one or 2 boxes and restore, this would be great!
I never have problems restoring backups, but I also never have a problem being lazy either!:)

From admin you have the ability to create a whole user backup or restore a whole user backup.

Do you mean create and restore certain parts of a user from the admin level? That can get very complicated.

can do backups and restore...

I am refering just to the admin level back up, if the user actually did a back up I would never have to do a restore.
When you as the admin create a backup, you have the ability to click a check box for only the accounts you want to create the back up for.
In the lower part of the same page, you have the ability to restore backups, this interface on the restore, lower page, is NOT as user friendly as the one on the top of the page.
All my back ups are run via cron using ftp, however, I find it a pain to move, rename, and restore the clients back up when the ability to click a box and choose restore is very possible.

I was just pointing out that is is possible with a few steps. Adding all the user backup restore functions to admin is of course possible. It depends on the priority of things todo for DA staff. If there are more people wanting it, I assume the priority gets higher (or put on the list in the first place).

I must be totally misunderstanding you. When I do a restore as admin it is simply a matter doing what you stated above.

Now you do have to tell DA where to get the files but you do not have to move and rename anything.

He was referring to what I said; where you need to rename and move the backup to the users directory in order to restore it from there. Not sure about renaming though, but you would need to move it into something like /home/user/user_backups.

This is the part I am not understanding. I do not understand how the lower part is not as user friendly. The top is a 3 step process and the bottom is a 3 step process. Its not the same steps exactly but essentially you just picks the backup files and click restore.

Are you saying you want to be able to specify which things get restored? Like web sites, databases, and so on?

nope...

just a simple check box system like the one to create so I can just click one account, restore it and get in with my day.

Well that is what I see now. From the admin backup/transfer I check the backup file to restore and then click Submit. It takes just a few seconds.

We use the Reseller Backup option for our clients, you can restore individual clients from there. Is this what you mean by clients?

The reason we create clients under resellers is to keep track of (shared) IP's - helps organisation too.

You can do the same from admin backups/transfer as well. You can easily backup and easily restore individual users with just a couple of clicks.

Its 3 steps to create and a possible 3 steps to restore. Restoring could be as little as one step.
