Clamav 0.88-2 wont install

Hi guys, i have a week old install of DA and i really need an anti virus solution, now there is heaps of talk about clamav and i have an older linux server ( slackware - not using DA ) using it at the moment, and i am happy with clamav, ok, but the problem is ( and i have been searching the forum for about 6 hours now ( yes i'm tired ) and most of the walk throughs if not all of them dont work. They seem to be a year old or more and the version of clamav dates back to version 7x ...

What i am looking for is an updated opinion and walk through, can anyone offer a suggestion.
