trying to start clamd
Starting clamd: LibClamAV Error: cl_load(): Can't get status of /usr/share/clamav
clamav file does not exist and a search does not show it. not sure where actual path is, and I have not used update.script to install.
/var/run/clamd and /var/run/clamav are both created but empty.

would trying an earlier release of clamav work?

thanks.

Well not here, because it's not a "required software update".:)
System level technical discussion could be an option, or the installation issues section. Maybe some of the moderators can move this thread to there.

However, just to be sure.
Did you already try to do a build clamav again?

There is something else I can remember. Check your /usr/share folder if there is a clamd folder present. If yes, rename that to clamav and things should be fine.

I did try running install again, did not know about renaming folder if there.
will check that asap, thanks.

ok there were none of those folders created during the build so I manually created usr/share/clamav then ran freshclam -v and it populated the folder with database.
the /etc/init.d/clamd start then worked, exim restarts fine, services listed running in the DA panel.
so hats the key, the usr/share/clamav folder its looking for was not created, thank you.

You're welcome. When writing a reply to you, i just remembered I had the same problem and fixed it this way.
I will mail support and see if it can be fixed.
