clamAV to scan PHP files?

Has someone great experience with clamAV?
Can it scan malicious code in php files (wordpress files and plugins)

If yes, do i just go do this in putty?

Step 1 - go to the website folder?
cd /home/domains/websiteA.com/public_html/

Step 2
Run
clamscan -r /

Or do you have better programs that you can install on your server to check php files?

Better... don't know... but yes there are others which have their own detection list and use clamav too. Runs in a cron, so automatically and you can run it manually. We use it too on all servers.

Like Maldetect and use the free signatures of Malware Expert too.
