If i run any of the "server hardening" while installing almalinux, will that interfere with the directadmin?

Hello,

That much depends on a scenario or paranoia levels. Whether or not you need a PCI-compliance. Some might require removal of dev-tools such as make/install, which might make it difficult to use standard tools of Directadmin. So you need to be more specific in your request.

Sorry, quite new to all this and not entirely sure the differences between all the profiles and etc yet. I was just going to do "CIS AlmaLinux 8 Benchmark for Level 2 - Server". but i figured id ask here and see in regards to "clean install" if that had any affect.

Scenario, mostly playing around and learning at the moment. but it is (going) to be on an accessible dedicated server so id like a healthy level of paranoia :p
Thanks

You might start with a clean OS without any hardening for the beginning at least. I've seen issues when DirectAdmin fails to install/start on an over-hardened server. As soon as you complete installation of Directadmin and all the required software you might apply hardening as you go.

Ah okay, thanks! That was going to be my follow up question.

Last q I have- does auto installation require that any prerequisites be installed by me first? I found the documentation regarding setup to be (idk maybe I clicked the wrong links or something) fractured it’s a tad confusing with da.com site helper and help.da I’m not sure which one is most accurate/up to date

At least curl/wget are required, so that you could download an installation script. The script will install all the other rpm packages.
