I am a shared hosting user with DirectAdmin and CloudLinux PHP Selector.
PHP 7.4 is currently the account default. In the PHP Selector, changing the PHP version under “Account Global Settings” changes it for all domains in the account.
Under “Per Domain Settings” I can see the individual domains, but I cannot assign a different PHP version to one domain. Site Isolation is also disabled by the server administrator.
I only need a newer PHP version for one subdomain, for example subdomain.example.com, while all other domains should remain on their current PHP version.
Is there a supported way for the hosting provider to assign CloudLinux PHP 8.4 to only one domain/subdomain without changing the PHP version for the entire account?
If PHP 8.4 is not installed on the server, would PHP 8.3 be possible in the same way?
I do not have root access, so I am mainly interested in what I should ask my hosting provider to enable or configure.
I found older discussions mentioning .htaccess, php.handler, and separate DirectAdmin/CloudLinux selectors, but I would like to know what the recommended solution is with a current DirectAdmin/CloudLinux setup.
