have to say that I am a newbie but am really trying to learn this myself. After about a week of figuring things out and with a lot of help from some great people on this board I must ask for some help.

This is my first dedicated box, Linux/DirectAdmin, I have 3 small domains on it. I have contacted a number of network admin guys but everyone charges so much. Platnium is great but they only deal with cPanel and I am cornered into using DirectAdmin.

Basically what I am looking for is someone to just check my three DNS settings to make sure they are correct (I believe they are) and the second thing is I need to get my server "hardened." I have had trouble before with DDOS attacks so want to do as much as I can before I make this new box live. (Yes I understand that there really is not much you can do as it relates to DDOS but I want to do as much as possible.)

What Onno suggested was that you post your DNS settings so we can help you by doing some troubleshooting over the 'net.

Without knowing what you want us to check, how can we help you?

We could check 100,000 domains, but we still might not guess at yours.

So we have no idea what to do to help you.

As far as server hardening is concerned, you can of course check the many posts here in these forums for help with hardening DA. Specifically look at the KISS posts because KISS is a simple easy-to-use firewall that will do most of what you need.

You can buy server hardening. We offer it, and others do, as well.
