connection dropped by imap

i change from vm-pop3d to dovecot.
when i create imap account in mail client (ex: outlook, thunderbird) it's allright. but if i want login with this account to webmail (i have 2 webmail: squirrelmail and roundcube) commonly i get error. squirrelmail say: Connection droped by imap. roundcube say nothing(white screen). But sometimes i can login. The same error with unix acounts and with directadmin virtual accounts.

i see one thing...

when i restart apache, i can login above 1-2 hours, but later i can't login.
i restart apache again and again i can login 1-2 hours.

Which OS are you using? I had a similar problem when I had Dovecot on OSX (BSD based). It had a problem with the mmap() function. Some of the settings in dovecot.conf file that affect this are:
#mail_read_mmaped = no
mmap_disable = yes
dotlock_use_excl = yes
lock_method = dotlock

Once I had these settings, I never had another problem with clients hanging on Dovecot. If you are using Linux, then the default file from DA should work fine. If you are FreeBSD, you may want to try these settings.
