Every day I am getting the following errors.

pid 89868 (httpd), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped)
pid 96319 (httpd), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped)

It is a FreeBSD 5.3 system, a New install, I have searched the forums and attempted all the quick fixes for this particular error but have come up dry.
Running apache 1.3.33 (reverted back due to suggestions on the forum)

I have basically the same setup on another 5.3 box that runs without an issue.

upon forcing it to reload it errors and stops the process. the only error logs when this occurs is..

[Wed Jan 11 22:18:24 2006] [warn] pid file /var/run/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?
[Wed Jan 11 22:18:24 2006] [notice] Apache/1.3.33 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.8.24 OpenSSL/0.9.7d PHP/4.4.0 FrontPage/5.0.2.2510 configured -- resuming normal operations
[Wed Jan 11 22:18:24 2006] [notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper: /usr/sbin/suexec)
[Wed Jan 11 22:18:24 2006] [notice] Accept mutex: flock (Default: flock)

Thanks in advance

I am also looking for some feedback on this. I have two different 5.3 machines that started core dumping httpd processes after using customapache to update everything.

The process used to update was.
cd /usr/local/directadmin/customapache
./build clean ; ./build update
./build all y

After this completed, apache refuses to start again. The only way I have found to get httpd to start is to remove /usr/local/lib/php.ini. However then I'm missing Zend and other tweaks that belong in there. Have also tried a default untweaked php.ini and it still core dumps. The only way to get it to start is to completely remove the php.ini.

At a bit of a loss for troubleshooting this other than it seems to be a php problem.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Make sure you are using the latest verison of Zend, and if you are using any cache program, make sure it was built for the new version of php.

Removing the Php_admin flags from the templates helped me with this one after i was in contact with Jon via email.

Did he advise of an easy way to remove that stuff for all users? I have too many to do by hand. I guess I can hack together some sed code to do it. Did you have to remove all php_admin stuff, or just a particular one?

Thanks

[URGENT]

Hi,

I'm getting the same problem. Tried disabling mod_perl, that didn't help. Originally I upgraded Zend which seemed to fix the problem but Apache has started crashing again, it won't stay up for a second.

I'm getting this error when I recompile PHP:

Thank you for using PHP.

--enable-bcmath: not found

*** There was an error while trying to configure php. Check the configure.php file

Any suggestions?
Many thanks!
Matt

What does your Apache error log show?

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/httpd stop

In order to get httpd really starting again, I have to comment out any random httpd.conf include in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

Thanks,
Robert

Found the solution to my problem.

Since I was always looking for "AddModule mod_perl.c" in httpd.conf and never found it, I was confused with this.
Eventually I tried commenting out: "#LoadModule perl_module /usr/lib/apache/mod_perl.so"

This helps, so I've asked John to please edit the page: http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=95

Possibly a mod_perl issue. Edit the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
change:
AddModule mod_perl.c

to
#AddModule mod_perl.c

and then restart apache.
This won't affect files in the cgi-bin (I've seen very few people actually making use of mod_perl itself).

Please make a note; Or search for: #LoadModule perl_module /usr/lib/apache/mod_perl.so

After a few weeks the problem came back and solved it now with option 5 as mentioned in: http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=9

Robert
