Hi,

I'm looking to setup a DA server but I've a few questions:
Does DA come with a built in DNS server?
If so when DA is installed will it act as NS1 and NS2? once I assign to IP's to the server.

My ideal setup is I have an alternative hosting service with the parent domain currently hosted with another registrar I dont want to move the domain's primary NS1,2 to the new DA hosting service I want to creat a subdomain ie.. webhosting.domain.com this subdomain I would point to the IP of the DA server.
Will this solution work and will it still be possible to have domains working through the DA server I setup.

Thanks in advance to any information people can provide here :D

Yes.

It will after you set up those nameservers on DirectAdmin and register the IP#s for them with the registrar where the domain hosting your nameservers is registered.

So far, so good.

You'll have to register nameservers with both your DirectAdmin server and your registrar. Then you can use them for domains hosted on your DirectAdmin server or anywhere else.

If you want to host DNS on your DirectAdmin server for subdomains of domains hosted on another server, then you'll need to create NS records for the two nameserver IP#s pointing to the DirectAdmin nameserver, for the subdomain, in the zonefile for the main domain, wherever that domain's DNS is hosted.
