Is it possible within DirectAdmin to create a user that has an FTP account only? For certain accounts I don't need a website or any of the other stuff created; simply an account with FTP access, but still managable using the DirectAdmin interface.
I'm not talking about creating sub FTP accounts for a otherwise regular user. The user must also have it's own Linux user account. Basically a normale DirectAdmin user without the website and e-mail stuff.
Ok, that is one solution, but that would still mean all the extra stuff is created. There is no way to have a package with just an FTP account? I've already tried setting all the options to zero.
What if you delete the domain linked to that user afterwards? This type of user doesn't need a domain. So I set the number of domain to zero when creating the acount. But it still requires your to fill in something in the "domain" field. However, when the user is created you can login with that user and delete the domain. Now because you have set the allowed domains to zero the user isn't able to create a new domain. The FTP account still works perfectly.
If you really only need only an FTP account, don't create a package. Just create a user from the control panel. That will include FTP access. It will also include a username at the server hostname; just forward it to you, or to the user's real address, with a .forward file in the home directory.
