I have the following problem: I need to create an e-mail account for a subdomain. I mean I have domain.com and subdomain.domain.com and I need an e-mail address like [email protected] . Please, advice, how can I do that.

The best thing to do is add the subdomain as a regular domain and not as a subdomain. Delete the subdomain and go to add another domain and add it there just like you would a primary domain.

What kind of solution is that? A subdomain on the main domain should be able to send receive email to and from a subdomain. Eg subdomain hosting.domain.com should be able to create email addresses for [email protected] etc. I noticed the DA does not have this feature. I wonder why. All the other control panel have the ability to create email accounts for all subdomains and one should not be forced to create a domain just to have a subdomain. What is the purpose of having subdomain if you need to create them as domains?

I am sorry I did not see a solution in your reply. All I saw was complaining about how DirectAdmin handled subdomains. Do you have another useful solution to contribute to this thread that does not require a rewrite of DA?

DA implements subroutines only in http. Other control panels may very well implement them as entire domains; I don't know.

But I do know that you can easily implment them in DA as complete domains.

Here's how I see your point:

Other control panels only implement subdomains with the overhead of complete domains.

DA allows you to create subdomains either with the overhead of complete domains, or just as httpd subdomains.

So therefore DA is somehow worse than the others, because it's not as limited.

Makes sense to me ;) .
