Creating new database?

Hey guys, I could really use some help with this.

What it is, me and my friend run a fansite together and our host recently had server problems and the site went down for a long time (and still is). Everything that was previously stored in the FTP is now gone and we've been told we need to create a new database in order to start getting the files back.

Can anyone talk me through this? It's my first time using DA so I have no idea.

Is your server is up for now?.. Can you access your cPanel and backup your database at phpmyAdmin?

Have you tried the DirectAdmin help system?

I don't know how creating a new database is going to help you get files back.

Actually I wasn't sure either, until I reread the original post. Because the first reply was spelled the way cPanel spells it.
