I received a mail from Mark (DA Support) that DA comes out in 2-3 weeks with a 64 bit DA version for CentOS !

Realy cool !

Greetz,

Franky

cool, I own couple 64bit machines, now all of them are running 32bit centos with DA.
looking forward to this.

Linux is native 64 bit, so i suppose a really performance boost.

I'm speechless, utterly speechless at a way to correct that statement.

Jon,

You can't expect that everyone on these forums is a native english-speaker.

The sentence is certainly understandable, though it may not say what you would like it to say.

miltongoh,

A fully native 64-bit server will probably run more quickly and more efficiently than a 32-bit server, according to lots of articles you can find in lots of technical publications.

That said, perhaps the question should be "Is it worth the money?" and I'm not sure there's an answer for that yet.

Oh it's understandable, but I couldn't think of a good sentence that would clarify the situation. Nearest I could come was, Linux as a whole is not native 64bit, but can be compiled as such.

I have my doubts, but it is possible. We compile it statically which will increase the odds. The services might have to be recompiled though.
