I host quite a few WordPress sites and usually end up having to help the end user do the setup. I'm wondering if anyone has ever written a plug-in or add-on for DA that would install WordPress for the end users (like cPanel has)?

Thanks,
-Joe

These are paid solutions, which ma be a bit overkill if you only want to install WordPress. I seem to recall a free one (limited but free). Anyone recall it or able to locate it?

I would like to see a limited version of selected scripts plugin to install, say 10, you choose which ones to offer
anyone he like to create one? :) :)

PS that free one only allows for scripts that most Dont use lol

It only takes me about 5 minutes to get WordPress setup for a customer, but it would be nice to just have a script integrated into DirectAdmin that did it like other control panels do.

I agree is quick but we already have the 2 plugins from installatron and softaculous, they are paid plugins and they have just about every software known to the open source world (like other panels do)
But I dont want that, I want a small selection of maybe 10 not 100's of scripts that are rarely used.
the free version has just that, ones no ones seem to use a lot :(
and I wouldnt use for myself, would be for client use

Is there any way thru a .conf to disable all those other scripts (some of which may be dangerous)? I agree... simple is better. Just a plugin to install WordPress should be STANDARD on DirectAdmin. I guess I'll switch over to cPanel to get something more up to date. The UI on DirectAdmin looks like something at least 10 years old. Pretty sad.

They've overlooked the entire purpose of a control panel and made it so complicated that a regular user has no idea what to do. All it should take is ONE click to install WordPress, Joomla, ZenCart, etc. It's ridiculous. Sorry if I show my frustration, but although DirectAdmin may be technically correct it's a NIGHTMARE for end users. The purpose of a control panel is to make it SIMPLE for end users.

Instead I have to install WordPress, Joomla, ZenCart, etc. manually. There's no excuse for this.

Sorry, the more I think about this the more aggravated I get. I will be looking to switch to cPanel tomorrow and over the weekend. No need to deal with this dinosaur any longer.

Yes, both Installatron and Softaculous let you decide which scripts to offer your users.

Which DiredtAdmin skin are you using? Default is old, and looks dated, but Enhanced is quite good in my opinion, and most of my clients happily use it. There's also the power_user[/i] skin, a lightweight skin great for slower connections.

Speaking for my end users, they love DirectAdmin's ease of use and simplicity. Of course we do offer them a script solution, one of the commercial ones.

DirectAdmin has built an excellent secure framework and there are lots of plugins available for it. If this doesn't fit your needs, then of course there are other solutions.

I find offering the simpler DirectAdmin control panel gives me a great differention point on which to build my webhosting solutions. Of course you may feel otherwise. And frankly if you need automated single-click install of specific add-on scripts, and don't want to buy the one of the excelletn commercial packages, that's up to you, and DirectAdmin may not be the best fit for you.

Simpler? Not by any stretch of the imagination.

So you manually install WP, Joomla and ZenCart for every user. What a waste of resources.

End of story... the answer is clear. Goodnight.

I have to agree with NoBaloney.

Directadmin is much easier to use for end users.
The things they use most (in my opinion) are pretty easy to use.

In cPanel things are much harder to find because of all the opions they offer in the Controlpanel.

And in for example Installatron, you can install a new CMS in a few clicks! It automaticly creates the database, backups, updates, etc. Allot of things you don't have to do anymore.
And the price for installatron/softaculous isn't bad either for the functions they deliver.
