My apologies if this has been posted before, my gut feeling says it has but i can't find it anywhere.
Recently I was caught out for the second time due to a user bypassing DA's quota limits by creating a directory with a specially crafted name which DA does not recognise. In my case the dir was named ". " (a dot then a space) and was filled with 13gB of porn.

Although it is relatively easy to catch out such offenders by performing manual quota checks using du it would still be nice if DA wasn't fooled so easily.

Many thanks,
Chris

It might fool directadmin but it wont fool the quota system.

DirectAdmin does not have quota limits. Your operating system has quota limits.

Hello,

As mentioned above, the system quotas should be counting the totals.
Were the files chowned to anything other than to the user?

John

You guys have a point actually, I didn't think about it being the OS's fault for giving incorrect quota readings... i guess this is out of the hands of DA. FYI John the user had not changed any chown settings.
