I dont want to be flamed for this but I really with there was a feature to backup a user (not just their data but their entire configuration information) and slap it on another DA server. Right now I am planning on migrating about 200 sites and the process can be really tedious. It would be nice if there was a tool that kept the same passwords and everything.

Thanks!

Reseller backup/restore should do that for you.

Admin backup definitely will do that for you, but restore is manual.

Before committing to either be sure to read the other threads on these forums, and leave yourself as much time as you can.

Moving user-accounts between DA servers is not as difficult as you think. From the resellerlevel make a backup of all the useraccount you want to move, transfer the backups to the other machine and restore them from the reseller. Check for any custom DNS settings on the old server and apply them to the new server. Add the domains to the /etc/use_rbl_domains so SpamBlocker will block Spam for these domains and you're done :)

Note that it's more difficult moving resellers and the info above only applies to user-accounts. You major issue is time (and duplicate usernames :D )

Hey!
Thanks for your help. I'll give it a shot, also do you offer a grace period if I have my lifetime license? I want to move sites to a new server but don't wanna buy another copy because im decomissioning my old box. It's on a different IP block so I didnt know if you can give me like a month to move the sites or a week or ... just let me know how that works.

Thanks!

Neither Onno (resolveit) nor I work for JBMC, the producers of DirectAdmin. So we can't give you a grace period.

Perhaps you should contact DA sales about buying a rental license for one month; they're not that expensive.
