If we make a backup @ user level, we see ALL of the data is available. Such as user.conf !! bandwith.tally user.usage etc.

What if we adjust the file user.conf, edit some settings like quota and bandwith, compress the file again and restore te backup.

Does anyone knows what happens? I tried this, but I can't find out the right compress method. I'm afraid that the changed settings (quota and bandwith) will be changed, so the user has more bandwith and quota.

So let me get this straight: You are making a backup, then you are decompressing this backup outside of DirectAdmin and making changes to some of the configuration files, and finally recompressing the backup for later restore by DirectAdmin?

If so I just have to ask why? Technically speaking it should work just fine although I've never had any reason to try manually changing files before restoring...

I'm pretty sure they're just normal .tar.gz files (tar and then gunzip), it's the directory/file structure that you will need to watch out for.

I'm afraid that the changed settings (quota and bandwith) will be changed, so the user has more bandwith and quota.
DirectAdmin pulls directly from the config files so if you make a change to one of the files in the backup and then restore in DirectAdmin then DirectAdmin should reflect those changes if they are valid.
