Hey guys,

I am just curious as to if there is a downlaod speeds restrictions either set upon by DirectAdmin, or maybe by my server. We are on a blazing fast fiber connection, but if I try to download a file that I am hosting on the server, I get max download speeds of about 150k/s - and it should provide much larger than that. It is definitely not restricted from the client side either.

I am running CentOS 5.3

Thanks!!!

DA didn't have a bandwith limit...or a server by himself as no bandwith restriction unless you set one with some soft

Perhaps the upload speed of the server you are downloading from does not have a large enough upstream connection (bandwidth) - which is why your download appears to be slow?

In other words, your server is downloading data at the full upload potential of the server providing that content.

I don't believe that is the scenario at all to be honest. We are at about 12bmps upload speed which is why I am so confused. We have other Windows Servers running at the proper operating speeds, but this box seems to have a cap.

Maybe it does have a download restriction. DirectAdmin doesn't set one. Neither does any program regularly used on a server, by default.

What kind of downloads are affected? ssh? scp? ftp? http? pop? imap? all?

Something is causing the problem. Your job as an admin is to find it :).
