Default DirectAdmin's CP domain mail account users.

Hi,

I see several subjects about the default domain. But i have been searching the forum to find my solution, but havent been able to find it so far.

My question is this:

After installing DA on my FreeBSD6 server with a subdomain used as DA's default hostname, lets just say server.mydadefaulthost.com, i wanted to create mail accounts like [email protected], billing@.., info@.. etc.. so that i can get seperate accounts within the default domain, but i dont seem to get the option to add mail accounts on the CP, is there a way to add accounts to the main domain (without using the subdomain in front) ?

Because i can only edit the main domains DNS, but i'd like to edit the rest of the services accounts (www, mail, ftp etc..).

Can anyone help me out or point me to the right direction to solve this issue?

You need to log in to DA, switch to user level, go to domain management, and add mydadefaulthost.com as domain (without the server. subdomain).
As general side note, DA's hostname should never be the same as the main domain name because that will cause issues with mail.
 
Can u be more specific about that?

i have for example server.vascotia.nl as the hostname for the server, so adding just vascotia.nl to add [email protected] addresses could cause conflicts because of the server.vascotia.nl hostname ?

Do u possibly know why this is a problem??

No, if the hostname is server.domain.com and the main domain is domain.com, there's no problem. But if you would be using domain.com as hostname and as main domain (or server.domain.com as both hostname and main domain) it will cause issues with mail.

do u know how to configure spamassassin? i mean like.. that u filter on words or spam templates.

Because many spam messages are all the same just another sender and name.
