Deleted Domain Names

I have had two domain names that I have deleted in the past but when I come to resurrect them or re-add them, the system says that I cannot as the domains still exist. But I have deleted them long ago.
it seems DirectAdmin does not completely delete former domains. Is there any way to remove all previous knowledge of these former domains so i can re-add them again?

Delete the dns zone files. That is how it checks if a domain exists.

Login to your DirectAdmin server (on the admin-level) and then go into the DNS Administration page...

Inside DNS Administration, search for the domain and delete it from the list. Then you can try re-creating the domain in DirectAdmin.
