Hi all

I am pretty a newbie when it comes to web hosting. A friend of mine has a web site called Zissugets.net. The first web server that the site was on used Direct Admin. The price was too high so He decided to transfer the site to Godaddy.

The server with Direct Admin gives the possibly to save a full backup of the site.
The backup called Zis.tar.gz.
The guy who built the site said that he didn't find any where in Godaddy's admin panel a tool to extract the file in godaddy's server.
When I contacted Godaddy's support they respond with an answer to extract the file and then upload it as it is.

So I extracted the file using Winrar and uploaded the files to the ftp server.
After uploading all the files and associating http://exito-e.com to godaddy's account.

It doesn't work... I am getting some godaddy's info site when I am trying to enter my web site.

The question is. How to upload a backup file that contains all the site from Direct Admin to Godaddy? when Godaddy doesn't have an extract option?

Thanks all

*I just want to mention that http://exito-e.com is a temporary domain for testing. When the site will work on this domain I will transfer Zissugets.net.

have you extracted only the users html directory? or the full backup? I think you should only extract the public_html directory from the backup. This holds the files for the website. Other files in the backup contain information on your (old) directadmin account, those should not be in the html dir.

Hi.

I uploaded only the content of public_html folder.
Nothing still I am getting a godaddy's info site.

Don't know what I am doing wrong. Any other suggestions?

It doesn't really matter that the site came from DirectAdmin.

Once you've unpacked the backup, and installed it to the site on the GoDaddy server, it has nothing to do with where it came from.

If you've updated an index file (index.html or index.php) file to GoDaddy's documented public html directory, and you still see the GoDaddy default information, then the problem is really for GoDaddy technical support.
