Hello People,

I am planning to start a webhosting for my customers, (around 10 websites and growing).
I have the server but i am thinking about the OS.
I have used CentOs before, and i am generally happy about it.. but i am reading that Almalinux might be a better choice..

What do you guys recommend me?

Btw, i am still a beginner, not a lot of expertise.

Best regards,

Yahya

There is already a thread about this, since Centos changed to Centos-stream which makes it in fact kind of like before Fedora.
So yes Almalinux is a great choice, especially if you might consider to use Cloudlinux at some point in time.
Alternatives are Rocky Linux or Oracle Linux.

Debian or Ubuntu is also a great choice if you are used to work with it. Benefit of that is, that you can upgrade major versions liek 10 to 11 (just example) supported from within the OS.
It can also be done with Almalinux but then it's via external tools.

It is all very good and imho better as the Centos-stream versions.

If you used Centos before then maybe Almalinux 9 will be the better choice for you as you are already a bit used to it.
Debian isn't very difficult either but is different, uses some differnet locations here and there and the package manager works differently so might take a bit of getting used to.

+1 for Almalinux 9 and fresh php, as you will install few versions on server - better to set as main currently stable that will be supported at least 1+ year more, so 8.2 or 8.3
