Hi folks

i am struggling today with the DNS on a new direct admin vps.

Is there a way to make a dns zone and make a domain working on it??

I have DirectAdmin ( Ofc. ) and 2 IPV4 IP's

Who can help me out??

Once DNS is working i can find out it myself its just the first few steps :(

Once you create a domain DA will create the needed DNS zone, you need to point your NameServers (on your regitar) to your DA Server

Best regards

Thanks for your reply but if i add a domain to da the dns wont forward any ip.

And i mean the first domain after fresh install.

I am now lokking random with proxy browsers if the site name is showing da default file.

I guess i still need any suggestions.

Thanks

You can try to interrogate your DNS Server using dig, something like:
dig @YOUR-SERVE-RIP YOURDOMAIN.TLD

If that reply correctly, the DNS is set correctly.

You still need to add ns1 and ns2 for your domain, than set those (with the related IPs) to your domain registar.

Also please consider that DNS take up to 48h to propagate.

I have the domain working on the nameservers from the seller.

But now the situation is something like this:

Need to use his nameservers wich the dns resolver 1 and 2

But becouse that part its for me not possible to make my own name server.

Any one any idea how to open my own nameservers so future domains can use that new nameserver??

It need to work somehow but it doesnt.

Who can help me out of my dns nightmare??

And i cannot press the delete button for a domain becouse the mail part is going to work tomorrow yes i have a dummy domain for testing :)

For the one with the solution i will thank you a lot of times!!

If you are not managing the NameServer but the domain is using different Nameserver (for example from your registar) you need to set the DNS at your registar.

If you wanna use/create your own nameserver, as i already sayd, you need to create two A record (ns1 and ns2 for example) that point to two different IPs, than, on your registar website you need to set the nameserver for that domain to use the two you created.

At the registar level when you introduce new nameserver you'll be asked to provide also the IP addresses.

Also, if the DNS are not working i dont see how the mail is going to start to work...

You may need to clarify and provide some real data, otherwise no one will be actually able to understand your problem and debug it.

Best regards

This are the name servers how it is working now:
ic4akz.png

I have the IP's that i can use here:
17wdhh.png

In directadmin it was put there like:
sxzqj5.png
from install ( If Centos is doing that itself )

and now my DNS zone:
ic4akz.jpg

I know something is not totaly good but i dont know how to make a fix for it to use my own nameserver and make sub domains like: reseller.domain.com

if i need to remake the DNS i have a test domain for it so i can test it over there.

if you need info feel free to ask

Code:
PING ns0.transip.nl (80.69.67.67) 56(84) bytes of data.
PING ns1.transip.net (80.69.69.69) 56(84) bytes of data.
PING ns2.transip.eu (37.97.255.53) 56(84) bytes of data.
None of those seems to be your server IP(s)
What is the domain you're trying to configure?

The last screenshot that should be your DNS zone is the same screenshot of the nameservers, so is not very useful :)

Best regards

But they will work to my domain ( I know its weird )

i am trying to add incluzio-ict.nl and my preffered situation is my own nameservers :)

and that last screenshot i guess copy and paste fail here

Thanks

To hae a domain use your own Nameserver (so, as i understand, not the one you have listed there), you need to follow the instructions i already gave you.

Best regards

If you don't succeed, I can help you if you want... in het Nederlands, or set them up for you on your vps.
Please keep in mind that if you succeed and you change the nameservers at transip.nl it can take up to 24-72 hours before they resolve worldwide.
Inside the Netherlands it takes mostly up to 4 hours, but Ziggo will sometimes need more time to update.
