im fairly new to Direct admin and was wondering how to change t he following..

i recently purchased linux hosting for my company.. with Directadmin installed.

Currently the DNS setup is

A Record - Domain Name - IPXXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
A Record - www - IPXXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
A Record - ftp -IPXXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
A Record - mail- IPXXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
MX Record - mail.domainname.com Priority - 10

and currently the emails are setup as
POP3 -> Mail.domainname.com
SMTP->Mail.domainname.com

------------------------------------------------

Butsince im transfering from an old hosting company and i have about 501 email accounts and users all over the country.. which has the following setup
POP3 -> domainname.com
SMTP->smtp.domainname.com

how do i change the above settings in my new hosting.. as i cant change all 501 users to the new setup..

i managed to make SMTP.domainname.com , by assigninga new Alias and MX record, but how do i make Domainname.com(without alias) as well into a MX record... so thatthe transfer from hosting companies will not affect the users?

:confused:

The Mail confuses me. Are you saying you've got records beginning with an uppercase M?

Where?

If in DNS, then create duplicate records with a lowercase m and delete the records with the uppercase M.

All you need to do to fix the smtp issue is create an A record for smtp with the same IP#. Then your users will continue to get their email as they do now.
