DirectAdmin Access Problems

From time to time we have users (and ourselves) that are unable to load any DirectAdmin pages. Typically the user can login, view the index and a page or two then any and all pages on port 2222 cannot be displayed.

This only happens on our free hosting server (which has around 180 accounts on it and is an AMD 1800 with 512MB Ram). A slightly higher spec (AMD 2400) with fewer accounts does not have this problem.

Is this an issue with server performance and is there a suggested solution please?
 
Does this problem seem to occure on a regular basis and around any specific time?
Load could be a possible cause, but if that was the case you would notice problems with virtually all services such as apache and MySQL.

If you can login to your server using ssh when this occurs, is the directadmin service still running?

Thanks for the suggestions. Load doesn't seem too bad (probably higher than in an ideal world ~ 2-5), access to other services seems to be ok, so maye the DA service isn't running.

If I close the browser window and re-open another straight away, I can login fine, which suggests session issues???
