Hello,

Location: Set Catch All E-Mail
Possible Selection:
a) Fail
b) Ignore
c) address (or select from)

When one selects c) and chooses 'or select from (example - default user)'
in the address field appears 'example' instead of examples' mail address.
And the effect of this is that ofcourse such mail 'example' is not recognizable and rejected. So one must manually set [email protected] or whatever.

You must have something set up wrong. If you select from the user list then the user shows up in the field and after saving the catchall mail gets delivered to that user. I just tried it and it worked as expected. Your rejection must be due to something else.

If the address you are sending to is a local user then inputting just the username is sufficient.

And of course if you're using catchall email you're looking for spam. Search these forums if you need more information.

i am sorry this was my mistake, because of many servers and some domains with split dns caused exim to behave in certain ways...
please lock or delete this thread.

anyway why should i be afraid of catch mail if spam is getting detected as spam and gets rejected anyway.
i know what you mean clearly, but for the time being i am too confident with your own exim spamblocker version which does a great job as the "door keeper" of the server as i call it.
and if anything passes through that door, well it doesn't mean it stays there...
