directadmin dead but subsys locked

i have the following error.

[root@sv1 ~]# service directadmin status
directadmin dead but subsys locked

now directadmin cant start even after reboot. any idea?

service directadmin start
for starting

look at your log file and see if there is any error given when you attempt to start
