We've emaild DA but havn't got any reply so we tried to call them but their voicemail is full and they can't be reached!
Anyone knows how to get in contact with them, we need to change an IP for our lisence NOW :/ we're in a big hurry :(

LOL, thanks!

We ordered a new key for another server yesterday and now we did the restart and tried to get the license and got this error:
* You are not allowed to run this program *
when we tried to update...

Everybody needs a vacation once in awhile;) It will be better when they have their reseller system implemented then support would go out to the folks you bought the license from and not directly to directadmin.

Email is the fastest way of getting answers and they will answer you can count on that. I do not believe they have phone or live chat support (or rarely) but they haven't taken it off the contact page.

Why would a licensed reseller want to offer support? Doesn't seem worthwhile to me.

The way I understand it, in order to get suport directly from DirectAdmin you would have to buy a license directly from them (which would be more expensive) and that has active support. Otherwise if you bought the license from a reseller the primary support person would be that reseller, of course it would be up to that reseller whether or not to offer support, although if he doesn't there would have to be a note of it on the page. Since DA would not be responsible fore support if they didn't make all of the profit through the reseller ;)

Best example I can think of. If you buy something from Bestbuy and it breaks. You usually take it back to bestbuy and they look at it and support it. If they are unable to do that then they go back to the company that made it, the client would not go directly to the manufacturer.

Thats my logic (messed up it may be) If someone can explain it better, please, go right ahead. :)

That is how I understand it, but it does not seem very enticing t me. I know Psoft has resellers and some offer support, but this does not prevent the buyer from contacting Psoft support themselves. This makes more sense to me and would certainly attract far more resellers.

The bottom line is DA has to hire more full time staff. If they can not at this time, then something may be wrong with their business model(which I hope is not the case). It's clear DA Staff do not reply in this forum as much anymore, but I still find their support to be responsive and good.

Yes, but depending on DA's policy. I heard that they would not respond unless the person contacting them had a valid/current support license from them.(unless pre-sales questions) I migth be wrong. I can always be corrected :o

Only problem is that when they expand staff wise they will probably have to raise prices to cover those additional expenses, or increase sales. I don't know how they are financialy so dont' take my word for it ;)
I like the low prices compared to the outrageous prices for cpanel for example.

I guess we're going to have to wait until a staff member responds or the reseller system is announced.

This has kind of drifted off-topic :p
Sorry about that.

If it's not worthwhile to you, then you probably don't want to resell DA.

We'll be very happy reselling DA; perhaps you've noticed we've been supporting it for some time now. We offer both free (on these forums) and paid (private contact) support, and even maintenance contracts.

We even have a domain ready for selling DA and related products, but it's not up yet.

DA folk posted on this subject a while ago, so while I know a bit, I'm going to leave their past and future statements as the final word.

But we're ready to go.

Jeff

aaarrrggghhh...
Where is the support, now we have 2 servers with new IP:s but no working DirectAdmin CP's, we got the websites up and working but DA is down.
Time to switch CP?

Well for a company like nobaloney, it certainly makes a lot of sense. Afterall you are a support company and are well entrenched in DA. Reselling DA licenses affords you the opportunity to sell more management services for DA, so it makes sense. In the end, it is really the same support model as Cpanel. If paying a little more money equated to better support and a better product, I'm sure many would not have a problem. I did not choose DA because it was cheaper. I chose DA because I thought it was better.:) But that's just me.

aleborg. What email address did you send your request to? It seems very strange that they would not get back to you. I know I ordered a DA license a few weeks ago and they did not get back to me for a over a week. I was not in a rush. When I finally I emailed sales or support about this it was installed that day. I have never had to wait more then a half day for DA to respond to my emails. I'm sorry you are having this problem.

Mark or John you should really chime in hear because this customer can not move forward without your assistance.

Why not email them yourself and explain the situation to them. I can't imagine they are ignoring you.

GoranTornqvist is an employee :)
Everything solved, they have answered now.
Seems like they have not updated all their pages in the help on how to change IP. The information we followed were incorrect but I think Goran can fill in more about that. DA will be notified of the page :)

Yepp, all working now :)

To put it short:
We followed these instructions:
http://www.directadmin.com/change_ip.txt
Did:
fetch https://www.directadmin.com/cgi-bin/licenseupdate?uid=UID\&lid=LID
And got:
* You are not allowed to run this program *
in the fetched file.

Da-support guided me to this info:
http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=30

cd /usr/local/directadmin/scripts
./getLicense.sh UID LID
/etc/rc.d/directadmin restart

When I tried that we were up and running in 2 minutes on both servers :)

So I guess we were using old instructions or something.
